"Many other students will use the college as a stepping stone toward pursuing a four-year degree. Others will use the college for training in a new career or for seeking an academic education at a later age."

Why Mark DiVecchio?

A future of hope and opportunity!

Fiscal Responsibility: In my eight years on County Council, I never voted for a real estate tax increase. As County Executive I pledged to put forward responsible budgets and work with my colleagues on Council to maintain fiscal conservancy and responsibility. Civility rules the day!

Effective Administration: My door remains open to all visitors, and I make my decisions to best impact our entire county, whether in enhancing the Public Safety department, insuring the success of our county-wide Library system, or improving our workforce development services.

Compassionate Care: Erie County government is required to effectively provide a wide range of human services for all of our citizens, yet with limited resources. But we are also obligated to empower our citizens so that they can live their lives fully, independent of unnecessary services.

So we have empowered the Human Relations Commissions for fairness and equity for all Erie County residents, and continue to resolve critical issues in the Office of Children & Youth, streamline the entire Human Services system, focus on treatment for drug & alcohol issues, and support senior services.

Understanding & Vision: The world's economic changes affect us in ways beyond our control. We must make community and economic development decisions that improve the economic vitality of Erie County.

We began by focusing on workforce training, then implemented a business succession planning program, a CEO Visitation program,  and integrated information on all Economic Development Agencies in Erie County. It became apparent that we need to provide educational opportunities to all of our citizens. So I am working very closely with the Erie Community Foundation, the Regional Growth Partnership, Governor Rendell and his staff, and many others in our community to insure the creation of a community college.

Now is not the time for what ifs and maybes. Now is the time for PROVEN leadership and PROVEN cooperation. I humbly request your continued support in the spring 2009 primary. Thank you for your help & support!

Sincerely,
Mark A. DiVecchio
